Our application process requires the applicant heat supplier to provide robust evidence that they have policies in place to meet Heat Trust's standards.
You must make a separate application for each individual site (heat network) that you wish to register with Heat Trust.
All applicants should read our Scheme Rules and Scheme Bye-Laws carefully before applying, then complete our registration pack.
Our registration pack comprises the following documents:
Please watch this tutorial video on the application process to find out what we're looking for. If you have any queries about your application, or the application process, then please get in touch and we'd be happy to help.
When completing your application, please make sure you attach all evidence that demonstrates how your processes fulfil the requirements of our Scheme Rules and Scheme Bye-Laws. Use the evidence matrix to point us to which individual document(s) you have provided to demonstrate compliant practices with the specific Scheme rule.
During the application process you'll be asked to make a number of declarations. It's essential that you make these truthfully and inform us if any relevant circumstances change. Providing false or misleading information is a disciplinary matter, which may result in rejection of your application or later expulsion from the Heat Trust Scheme.
Once we receive your application form we'll be in touch about the next steps.
There are no set timescales for processing an application. These depend on the complexity of your application (including your processes' level of compliance with our standards) as well as the number of other applications that we have in progress at the time.
Most applications identify some required changes to a supplier's processes. We suggest you factor this in when applying. We will not register any site until we're satisfied that processes are in place to meet our consumer-protection standards. We can discuss any gaps to clarify what's required. We may require you to submit extra or revised evidence.
If and when we're happy that your application complies with our Scheme requirements, we'll send you a participation offer. This will comprise an accession agreement, fee invoice and deed poll for the Energy Ombudsman.
Once we've received your signed copies of the accession agreement and deed poll, and payment of the applicable fees, we'll process the registration of your site. On completion of registration, your site will be listed on our website. You'll also receive a registration certificate, the Heat Trust trademark and a copy of our Scheme Information Sheet to include in your customer information pack.
We have a flowchart of our end-to-end application process, which you can view here.
Completion of our application form does not constitute acceptance of your heat network's registration with Heat Trust.
Your company, its employees and anyone acting on your behalf are not entitled to use the Heat Trust trademark or claim to be registered with the Heat Trust Scheme until you have received a registration certificate from us. Unauthorised use of the Heat Trust mark is an offence under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
